The Sanctuary – Georgina Peer Support Drop-In
The Sanctuary is a low-barrier, peer-led drop-in space for individuals aged 16+ who are navigating mental health and/or substance use challenges, as well as their friends and family. This is a non-clinical, welcoming environment rooted in lived experience, connection, and community care.
What We Offer
- Peer support from trained individuals with personal experience.
- A safe and inclusive space to connect and be heard.
- Social and recreational activities, including arts and crafts.
- Opportunities to connect with trained Peer Supporters.
- Assistance in navigating and accessing health care and social services in York Region, if needed.
- Participation in mental health and/or substance use recovery education activities.
- A chance to relax and engage with all the benefits of the peer recovery model.
Easy Access
- No referral is required.
- No application process is needed.
- No intake or assessment is necessary.
- A health card is not needed.
- No diagnosis is required.
- There is no waitlist.
You can attend as often or as little as you like, and stay for as long as you need.
Program Guidelines
All participants are expected to follow a Comfort Agreement that emphasizes respect, safety, and inclusivity. Substance use is not allowed on-site; however, abstinence is not required to attend.
Confidentiality
You can participate confidentially and decide how much information to share. Your information will not be disclosed without your consent.
Schedule & Locations
Start Date: May 1, 2026 (6-month pilot program)
- Sutton Arena Hall: Tuesdays, 1:30 PM to 7:30 PM
- Ice Palace Multi-Purpose Room (Keswick): Fridays, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM (except on July 3, July 30, and August 21)
- Ice Palace Library Program Room: July 3, July 30, August 21, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM
