rasman Centre embarked on an accreditation journey starting in 2015. The objective of accreditation is to strengthen the organization and capacity of Krasman Centre for the ultimate benefit of the people we serve, as well as to improve the worklife culture and environment for our peer support team. Accreditation involves a cycle of improvement that benefits everyone. We are proud to have achieved accredited status and Accreditation Canada’s ‘Primer Award’ in June of 2016. Since that time, Krasman Centre has been involved with the ‘Qmentum Phase’ of accreditation, and working towards full accreditation status through Accreditation Canada.
Through a funding grant from the Regional Municipality of York’s ‘Organization Development Stream’ we have recently been able to hire Laura Pearson, on a contract basis to fulfill the role of Accreditation Coordinator for the agency through 2018. As our Accreditation Coordinator, Laura will help ensure we are meeting all the criteria required of the organization ahead of our accreditation site survey scheduled to be conducted by Accreditation Canada in Spring 2018. The Coordinator will organize and review all of the policy and procedure documents required, and also ensure staff are well-prepared ahead of the site survey. Having a dedicated staff person in this role will ensure that our programs promoting mental wellness and recovery will continue to be fully supported by our programming staff, uninterrupted by the accreditation process. Krasman Centre’s direct support staff will be able to continue to dedicate their efforts to providing quality supports to our service users, and keep up with ever-increasing demands. Engaging with the accreditation process is one way Krasman Centre demonstrates continued dedication to improving quality, reducing risk and strengthening accountability in all our services.
