The Krasman Centre will be offering free Nia Classes to mental health peers and survivors every Tuesday morning starting on March 3rd. The classes will be held at the Richmond Hill United Church, 10201 Yonge Street, from 10:45am to 12:00pm. No registration is required at this moment.
‘Nia is movement medicine for the body and soul.’
It is a Mind, Body, and Spirit fitness program.
Nia supports the pleasure principle: If it feels good, keep doing it, but if it hurts, stop! Nia combines the nine movement forms of: Healing Arts (Yoga, Alexander Technique, The Teachings of MosheFeldenkrais), Dance Arts (Jazz Dance, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance), Martial Arts (Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido) to connect and satisfy your body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Practiced barefoot to music, Nia is adaptable and safe for all fitness levels, from beginners to athletes. Delivering cardiovascular, whole-body conditioning, Nia is based on creating a loving relationship with the body through expressive movement rather than repetitive jogging and lifting.
No experience required. Bring comfortable clothing. Sneakers are optional.
Open to Men and Women. Our orientation session is on Tuesday March 3rd, 2009. Light refreshments will be served.
